I picked up the Wild about Flowers stamp set when it was retiring last year, primarily for its sentiments addressing retirement. As at least half of my colleagues are 50’s or older I knew this set could have a lot of use in my future, and I didn’t see any good replacements in the new annual catalog.
I finally pulled it out this afternoon to make a retirement card for a colleague. I paired it with the Home to Roost stamp set from this year’s Sale-A-Bration and the Wood Textures DSP as I wanted a masculine feel to the card.

I masked the rooster when adding the background (in Soft Suede, stamped off on the sides and in the middle), then colored him with Stampin’ Blends based on a color scheme I’d seen on Facebook that I thought was quite sharp and worked with the (again masculine) Tranquil Tide card base.

I used the Rectangle Stitched dies to cut out the rooster, cutting three sides first, then the last side afterwards so I could get the shape I wanted. There ended up being a notch on one corner, so I trimmed all four corners at 45 degrees and did the same for the Wood Textures DSP to match.
The Story Label Punch worked great around the primary sentiment, and I punched a second shape out of Tranquil Tide and cut it in half to use as a layer.

I thought this sentiment from the Wild about Flowers stamp set was perfect for the inside of the card, and included a final (stamped off) image of the grasses to tie it all together.
